Mahjic Is Now Bam Good Time: The App Name Change, Explained
The Mahjic apps are now called Bam Good Time. Same apps, same logins, same data. Here is what each one is called on the App Store and Google Play now.
The Mahjic apps are now called Bam Good Time. Same apps, same logins, same data, same club, same history. Only the name on the store listing and under the icon has changed.
If you are here because an app on your phone quietly changed its name overnight, that is what happened, and nothing is wrong with your account.
What each app is called now
| What it does | Old name | New name | Where | |---|---|---|---| | Club app for members and organizers | Mahjic Mahjong: Club & League | Bam Good Time: Mahjong Club | App Store, iPhone and iPad | | Club app for members | (never called Mahjic) | Bam Good Time: Mahjong Club | Google Play, Android | | Mac app for running a club | Mahjic Desktop | Bam Good Time Desktop | Mac App Store | | Standalone online game | Mahjic Play | Bam Good Time Mahjong Online | App Store, iPhone and iPad |
The Mac app and the online game were renamed on August 18, 2026. The iPhone and iPad club app followed on August 19.
If you already have any of these installed, you do not need to do anything. The rename arrives as an ordinary app update, and the name under the icon changes by itself the next time it installs.
Why the name changed
The club platform has always been Bam Good Time. That is the name on the website, on the emails your club sends, on the club's own page at bamgoodtime.com, and on the sign-in screen.
The apps were listed under a different name: Mahjic.
That gap had a cost, and it was not a branding cost. A club organizer would tell a new member to get the Bam Good Time app. The member would open the App Store, search for "Bam Good Time," find nothing that looked right, and give up. Some of them landed on the game instead of the club app, registered an account there, and could not work out why their club's Tuesday game night was nowhere to be found.
One name across the website and the apps removes that dead end. When someone is told to get Bam Good Time, they now search for Bam Good Time and find Bam Good Time.
What did not change
Your account. Same email, same one-time sign-in codes, same password if you use one. Nothing was migrated and nothing needs to be re-linked.
Your club. Your memberships, your registrations, your season passes, your punch cards, your payment history and your league standings are all exactly where they were. Club admins keep every member, event, tournament and report.
Your data in the game. If you play Bam Good Time Mahjong Online, your stats, your friends and your table history carry over. It is the same app with a different name on the listing.
Mahjic Rating. This one is worth being precise about, because it is the part people most often assume is going away. mahjic.org is a separate product: an open, ELO-based rating system for American Mahjong that any club or league can join as a Verified Source. Your Mahjic Rating, your Verified Rating and Mahjic Verified identity verification all keep their names and keep working. Only the three app listings were renamed.
So if your player page shows a Mahjic Rating after the update, that is correct and deliberate, not a leftover.
What to do if you cannot find the app
Search the App Store or Google Play for Bam Good Time. All four listings are published by Bam Good Time LLC.
- Club app, iPhone and iPad: Bam Good Time: Mahjong Club
- Mac: Bam Good Time Desktop
- Online game: Bam Good Time Mahjong Online
- Android: Bam Good Time: Mahjong Club on Google Play
You do not need an app at all to use your club. Everything a member does, browsing events, registering, paying, joining a league, entering scores at the table, works in any phone browser at your club's own address. The apps are a faster way in, not the only way in.
Which app do I actually want?
This trips people up more than the rename does, so it is worth stating plainly. There are two different products with similar names.
Bam Good Time: Mahjong Club is your club. Real games, at a real table, with the people in your club. You use it to see the calendar, claim a seat, pay, check in, follow your league, and message your clubmates. If someone told you to get "the app" so you can join their Tuesday game, this is the one.
Bam Good Time Mahjong Online is a game you play on your phone against other people or against AI opponents. It has its own tiles, its own tutorial and its own multiplayer tables. It is not where your club's events live.
Choosing wrong is the single most common bit of confusion we see, and it is exactly what the old name made worse: a member searching "Mahjic" found the game first.
If you organize a club
Nothing on your side needs updating, but two small things are worth a minute.
Check your own instructions. If your club's welcome email, printed handout, Facebook group description or website says "download the Mahjic app," that sentence now sends people looking for something that no longer exists under that name. Change it to "Bam Good Time: Mahjong Club" and the search works.
Your members do not need to reinstall. If anyone asks, the honest answer is: it updated, the name changed, everything else is the same. There is no migration and no re-registration.
Everything else, your branding, your colors, your custom domain if you are on an Enterprise plan, your Stripe payouts, your email sending domain, is untouched by the rename.
Getting started
