Delete Your Account

Last updated: July 28, 2026

You can delete your Bam Good Time account at any time, and you do not need to ask anyone's permission. There are two ways to do it: from Settings while you are signed in, or by emailing us if you can no longer sign in. Deleting your account is permanent — we cannot restore it afterwards.

One thing to do first: if you pay Apple for a subscription bought inside our iPhone or Mac app, cancel that with Apple. Deleting your account does not stop it. The subscriptions section below says exactly how.

Delete it yourself, from Settings

The steps depend on where you are. The website and the Android app are the same thing (the Android app opens our website inside an app), so they work identically. The iPhone and Mac apps ask you to confirm through a short series of pop-ups instead, and they do not ask you to type anything.

On the website and in the Android app

  1. Sign in to Bam Good Time.
  2. Open your account menu and choose Settings.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page, to the section headed Danger Zone.
  4. Press Delete My Account.
  5. Type DELETE in the box that appears. The final button stays disabled until you do.
  6. Press Permanently Delete Account. Your account is deleted right then and you are signed out.

In the iPhone and Mac apps

  1. Sign in and open Settings.
  2. Under Account, choose Delete account.
  3. Press Continue on the first confirmation.
  4. If the app can see an active App Store subscription, it stops here with Cancel your subscription first and offers to open Apple's subscriptions screen for you. Cancel there, then come back.
  5. Confirm the last pop-up (Delete My Account on iPhone, Delete Forever on Mac). Your account is deleted right then and you are signed out.

If you cannot sign in

Email mahjong@bamgoodtime.com from the email address on the account and ask us to delete it. Say which email address the account uses. We check that the request comes from the account holder before we delete anything, we run the same deletion described below, and we reply to confirm when it is done. A person handles these by hand, so expect a few business days rather than an instant answer.

You can also reach us through our contact page.

Subscriptions: what deleting your account cancels, and what it does not

This is the part people most often get wrong, so we will be blunt about it. Deleting your account cancels one subscription and leaves the others running.

  • Mahjic Verified, which we bill you for through Stripe, is cancelled for you, before anything is deleted. If that cancellation happens to fail we still delete the account rather than trap you, so if you see another Verified charge afterwards, email us and we will sort it out.
  • An App Store subscription is not cancelled, and Apple will keep charging you until you cancel it yourself. This is any plan you bought inside our iPhone or Mac app. Apple does not allow us to cancel it on your behalf, and Apple keeps billing even after your account here is gone. Cancel it with Apple:
    • iPhone or iPad: open the Settings app, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, tap the subscription, then Cancel Subscription.
    • Mac: open the App Store, click your name in the bottom-left corner, click Account Settings, then find Subscriptions and click Manage.
    • Any browser: apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions
Cancel with Apple yourself rather than waiting to be reminded. One screen does remind you — Settings in the iPhone or Mac app — and no other place does. The Mac app can also delete your account from the account menu on its home screen, and that path says nothing about Apple. The website and the Android app cannot see your Apple subscriptions at all. Treat the reminder as a courtesy you might not get, not as a safety net.
  • A membership you pay a club for month to month is billed by that club, not by us, and deleting your account does not cancel it. Cancel it with the club before you delete, or contact the club afterwards.

What deletion removes

  • Your login and your account record are deleted. The database removes the records attached to them at the same time, including your membership of every club you belong to, your player record, your rating and match history, your place in league rounds and tables, and the chat messages you sent.
  • Your profile photo files are removed from our storage, including older copies kept from clubs you have been a member of. That removal runs after your account record is already gone, and a storage failure does not stop the deletion — we record the failure and finish anyway, which can leave a photo file behind. Email us if you want that checked and cleared.

What is not removed, and why

We would rather tell you this plainly than let you assume otherwise:

  • Payment records held by Stripe. Stripe keeps the record of payments you already made, because a payment processor is required to.
  • Image files you posted in club chat and documents you uploaded to claim a club listing. Those files are stored separately from your account record and are not removed automatically. Email us and we will delete them.
  • Email and text delivery logs kept by the services that send our messages, which record that a message was sent and delivered.
  • Anything a club recorded outside the app — a paper score sheet, or a photo taken at an event that the club has already published. Those are the club's own records; contact the club directly, as described in the Event Photos and Likeness section of our privacy policy.

What can stop the deletion

Two things can get in the way, and neither is a bug:

  • You own a club, or you are its only admin. We refuse the deletion and tell you so, because deleting you would leave that club with nobody who can run it. Transfer ownership or promote another admin first, then delete your account. This one is a genuine refusal, and it applies everywhere: the website, the Android app, and the iPhone and Mac apps all get the same answer from our server.
  • You have an active App Store subscription and you are deleting from Settings in the iPhone or Mac app. That screen pauses with Cancel your subscription first before the final confirmation. It is a reminder, not a refusal — you can cancel with Apple and come straight back, or continue anyway if you have already cancelled. Nowhere else pauses. The Mac app's account menu on its home screen deletes without warning you, and so do the website and the Android app, so please cancel with Apple first no matter where you delete from.

Deleting less than everything

You do not have to delete your whole account to stop hearing from us. Unsubscribe from any marketing email, reply STOP to any text message, or leave an individual club from Settings. Our privacy policy describes what we collect and what else you can ask us for.
