Mahjong Cruises and Destination Tournaments for 2026-27

The American Mahjong cruises and destination tournaments we could confirm for 2026-27, with ships, dates, ports, published prices and what each one includes, checked on each organizer's own site.

Mahjong cruises for 2026-27 include Caribbean sailings in January and February 2027, Rhine river cruises in the spring, an Alaska sailing in May, and a full tournament cruise on Celebrity Beyond in November 2027. Most book your cabin through one travel agent and charge a separate tournament or mahjong fee. We checked every listing below on the organizer's own website on October 18, 2026.

Prices and cabins change without notice, so confirm with the organizer before you pay. The second half covers tournament weekends at hotels and resorts.

Mah Jongg Fever: Tournament Cruise 2027

The most competitive sailing on the list. Mah Jongg Fever's cruise page promises two full 7-round tournaments on the sea days, $10 minis the rest of the week, and bigger-than-usual prizes. The fare includes drinks, wi-fi and gratuities. Book the cabin with Crak Your Bags first, then pay the $300 tournament fee to Fever. Fever's rules use the current year's NMJL hands and rules. Our listing: Mah Jongg Tournament Cruise 2027.

Crak Your Bags: Caribbean and Rhine sailings

Crak Your Bags is a travel agency that runs mah jongg group trips. Its Oceania Allura and Celebrity Beyond cruises include drinks, wi-fi, prepaid gratuities, an onboard credit, a private play area and optional minis. The Allura trip is one way, so you fly home from San Juan. The March Rhine cruise has nightly mah jongg and an optional Lucerne add-on at $1,750 per person, double occupancy. The April Rhine cruise mixes mah jongg and canasta with a Jewish heritage theme. Its November and December 2026 sailings are sold out, with waiting lists. It does not match roommates, so bring your own.

Destination Mah Jongg: Alaska, Spain and the Caribbean

Destination Mah Jongg books cabins through its travel partner, Departure Lounge. You enter the tournament separately, by mailing a form and a check, and not everyone on the cruise plays. The fee is lower if you book through its agency: $200 instead of $300 for Alaska, $300 instead of $500 for Spain, Portugal and Morocco, and $200 instead of $400 for December. Group pricing includes a perks package (drinks, wi-fi, a refundable deposit) and assumes two people share a stateroom. Its official rules follow NMJL rules and the NMJL card.

Royal Service Cruises: Mahjong at Sea 2027

This eight-night Norwegian Bliss sailing from New York City starts at $1,599 per person, including the tournament fee, drinks, gratuities, one specialty dinner, and taxes and fees. Sea days hold social play and tournament sessions, and non-players are welcome.

Lookout Mountain Mahjong: the Ritz-Carlton yacht

The luxury pick. Lookout Mountain Mahjong sails six nights from San Juan to Miami, stopping at St. John, Virgin Gorda and Grand Turk. Its hosted mahjong package, listed at $900 per person, covers play for all experience levels, two sea days of open play and minis, and coaching. Every booking goes through Martha King Travel.

Craks, Bams, and Friends: Mahjong Mania

A short Liberty of the Seas sailing, run with Expedia Cruises of Flower Mound. The optional mahjong package has hosted open play and optional tournaments, and learners are welcome. No price or port is listed yet, so email the agents named on the page.

MAHJourneys: Rome and France

MAHJourneys plays social American NMJL games only, with friendly tournaments and prizes. It also lists a Miami round trip to Mexico, Belize and Honduras (January 25 to February 1, 2027) and a sold-out October Rhine cruise. No prices are posted.

Destination Mah Jongg Tournaments for 2026-27

A destination tournament is a weekend at a hotel or resort, sold as a package: your room, some meals and the tournament fee. Prices are per player in a shared double room unless noted. Most also sell a cheaper commuter entry for players who live nearby.

Destination Mah Jongg weekends

Each Destination Mah Jongg weekend is 12 rounds over three days: three the first evening, six the second day and three the last morning. Play follows NMJL rules on the current card, and you should finish four games in each 55-minute round. These are competitive, not teaching, tournaments, though first-timers are welcome. The package covers your room, two breakfasts, a lunch and the fee; commuters must live within 30 miles. Houston (November 6 to 8), St. Petersburg (November 16 to 18), Palm Springs (January 29 to 31) and Charlotte (February 19 to 21) are sold out with waitlists. The two with space left are also in our directory: Phoenix and Savannah. For the latest status, the organizer's own page is the one to trust.

Mah Jongg Fever weekends

Fever's Las Vegas and Foxwoods weekends run Sunday evening to Tuesday, 12 rounds plus $10 optional minis. The Las Vegas package includes the hotel, two breakfasts, a lunch, parking and the fee; Foxwoods swaps the lunch for a refreshment break. You can pay a 50% deposit, and commuters must live within 35 miles. Fever asks fliers to book flights home after 3:00 PM on the last day. Atlanta (May 16 to 18) is closed with a waitlist, and Chicago (June 13 to 15) has rooms by phone only. In our directory: Las Vegas, Lancaster, Foxwoods and Atlanta.

Mahjong in the Canopy

The retreat pick. In the Trees, a treehouse resort near Hot Springs, Arkansas, gives the whole property to mahjong players: two nights, five meals, open play, a strategy clinic, a beginners' bootcamp, and a Canopy Cup seat for everyone. The Cup is four 50-minute rounds under NMJL rules on the 2026 card, with nobody eliminated. The table's prices hold through November 6, 2026, then rise $100. Our listing: Mahjong in the Canopy.

How to Choose a Mahjong Cruise or Destination Tournament

Cabin share

Almost every price above assumes two people share a room, and going solo costs more. On Fever's cruise an interior cabin is $3,241.55 for one person, against $1,817.55 each for two. Settle your roommate before you register.

Skill level

A tournament cruise or hotel weekend is timed and scored; Destination Mah Jongg expects four games in each 55-minute round. A social cruise is open tables with optional minis, which suits newer players. Mahjong in the Canopy runs a beginners' bootcamp, and our beginner's guide to the rules is a good refresher.

Card year

A new NMJL card comes out every spring, so a winter trip will usually use the 2026 card and a fall trip the 2027 card. Ask which one the organizer will use, and bring your own copy. See how to read the NMJL card.

Rules used

Most organizers here play NMJL rules plus their own tournament rules on calling tiles, penalties and score sheets. Read them before you go, and brush up on tournament etiquette.

If you don't play in the tournament

On most cruises the tournament is optional. Destination Mah Jongg sells it separately, Royal Service Cruises welcomes non-players, and Mahjong in the Canopy charges a non-playing partner $495. Ask whether the group price depends on playing.

Find More Mahjong Tournaments Near You

Our mahjong tournament directory lists upcoming American Mahjong tournaments by state and on a map. A free account shows each venue and registration link. Tick "Email me about new clubs and tournaments near me" when you sign up, and you get a first email, then no more than about one a week, only when a new tournament within 100 miles or a new club within 50 miles appears. For a regular game between trips, browse mahjong clubs.

Planning a Destination Event?

List it free. Any organizer can add a tournament through our free listing form. It takes about two minutes and needs no account. We review every listing and email you when it is live.

Run it on Bam Good Time. Tournaments are on the Pro plan, $49 a month or $525 a year. Card payments start on Starter at $19 a month, and Pro includes them. On the web, a Pro tournament gives you:

  • Online sign-up and payment, with a waitlist that offers a freed seat to the next player.
  • Swiss, Round Robin, Swiss Cut to Finals, or a single or double elimination bracket.
  • A date, start time and room for each round, so a three-day weekend reads as one schedule.
  • Check-in, pairings, a round timer for the projector, East entering table scores on her phone, and live standings on a display board.
  • If your club and the tournament are public, a daily update lists it in our tournament directory.

It does not book hotel rooms or cabins, so keep your hotel block or travel agent for that. For the full playbook, read our tournament organizer guide.
